CRIMINAL INJURY SOLICITOR CLAIMS

Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA)

Our criminal injury solicitors specialise in helping the victims of violent crime bring claims to the CICA. We take cases on a no win no fee basis, which means you pay absolutely nothing if your claim is not successful. There are no upfront costs. We are an independent service that provides innocent victims of violent crime with expert legal representation. You will receive the highest level of independent professional service applicable to your case by a criminal injury solicitor who specialises in personal injury compensation claims.

Criminal Injuries Solicitor – Personal Injury Experts

Each of our solicitors is a member of the Law Society panel of personal injury experts. Membership in this panel is limited exclusively to solicitors who have proven expertise in handling personal injury compensation claims. In order to be accepted to the panel, applicants must :-

  • Demonstrate a detailed knowledge of the claims procedure as well as the relevant law covering all aspects of personal injury compensation including applications to the CICA.
  • Provide proof that they possess adequate office facilities and case management systems including substantive back up and library facilities.
  • Show that they have attended continuing education courses relevant to practicing personal injury law. Continuing professional development is substantive and is an annual recurring requirement.

Head & Spinal Injury

Our criminal injury solicitors are also members of the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) which is a legal accreditation organisation and our consultant solicitors are recognized by both the Spinal Injuries Association and "Headway," the national head injury charity.

    Nationwide CICA Applications

The CICA has offices located in Glasgow and London which handle claims from applicants in England, Scotland and Wales. Residents of Northern Ireland utilise a separate scheme with an office located in Belfast. Victims of violent crimes can apply to the CICA for compensation for physical injuries and mental trauma caused by the violent offence. Each year, the CICA pays out more than £200,000,000 to over 70,000 applicants.

    How Long Does it Take?

The CICA is able to resolve approximately 90% of the claims it receives within 12 months. More complicated cases, such as those involving the loss of future earnings, or cases where a criminal trial is pending, may take longer. On average, it takes eight months for a claim to be processed.

    CICA Reviews & Appeals

If you are not satisfied with the CICA's initial decision, you have the right to request that your application be reviewed by a senior case officer. An independent Appeals Panel hears appeals brought by applicants unhappy with the outcome of the requested review.
