CRIMINAL INJURY - NO WIN NO FEE
Risk Free Compensation Claims
Our independent solicitors specialise in helping victims of violent crime to bring risk free no win no fee criminal injury compensation claims. Using our no win no fee scheme the claimant pays nothing unless their CICA application is successful and compensation is paid. There are no upfront costs of any kind and you don’t have to finance you claim in advance. We offer a free initial consultation on the telephone and you are under no obligation to proceed. There is no charge for the initial advice even if you take no further action.
Our Charges for No Win No Fee Criminal Injury Claims
The CICA awards compensation but does not pay for legal expenses. If your no win no fee criminal injury compensation claim is successful then we charge 25% (plus VAT) of the value of your compensation. That sum also covers any expenses we incur in processing your claim. If you receive your compensation as a result of a successful appeal, the same 25% (plus VAT) charge applies. We charge just 25% (plus VAT) overall no matter how much work we carry out which includes the initial application and any appeal that may be necessary. Should your claim or appeal be rejected for any reason, you will be charged nothing.
How We Can Help You To Claim CICA Compensation
Criteria for Eligibility
The law sets forth a number of requirements in order for a victim to be eligible for compensation. To bring a successful claim, you must meet all of the following criteria :-
- you must report to the police as soon as reasonably possible
- you must fully cooperate with the police during the investigation
- you must not have provoked the incident
- no aggressive behaviour before, during or after the incident
- claims can be rejected or reduced for ‘unspent’ criminal convictions
- injuries need 2 visits to a doctor and a minimum six weeks to heal
Criminal Injuries Compensation & The Appeal Tribunal
The CICA was established to compensate innocent victims for physical injuries, mental trauma and financial losses incurred as a result of a violent crime. It is a public administrative body that handles the applications brought by crime victims. Not all applications are successful. The claim may be rejected or an inadequate amount of compensation may be awarded. Dissatisfied claimants have the right to appeal the reviewed decision of the CICA to the independent Criminal Injuries Compensation Appeals Panel (CICAP). The CICA is obligated to abide by any decision made by CICAP.
